Trigonometric functions.  Chapters 6 and 7.

Cool interactive activities on the web!

[Links may be broken!]

A few useful links are below. Most of the really good Java applets no longer work (for security reasons--they were in old Java). A google search finds many, but not many that still work. [Odd! I bet you thought the internet was getting better and better. Not always so.] The ones I did find that still work are linked below.

Chapter 6.  Trigonometry
Do these activities for Trigonometry section 6.2, and then again for 7.2.
Suggested time committments are in red.
It takes some time for the java applets to download.  Please wait for them.

Section 6.2.
The sine activity is highly recommended!
For sine:  Play with animated illustrations of

    1) Unit circle and definition of sine and cosine: http://www.analyzemath.com/unitcircle/unit_circle_applet.html

Look at how sine isolates the vertical component of circular motion.  (2 minutes. Do each version: sine, cosine, and tangent)
       Cosine isolates the horizontal component.

    2)  Sine and cosine on a unit circle:  https://www.geogebratube.org/student/m1525
(click on the sine box and maybe on "trace" too. 2 minutes )

    3)  Triangles in a unit circle:  http://www.malinc.se/math/trigonometry/unitcircleen.php
(It may take a few seconds to load. 2 minutes.  There is more further down the page, much like the above links.)

Khan academy begining (not great, but okay): https://www.khanacademy.org/math/geometry/right_triangles_topic/cc-geometry-trig/v/basic-trigonometry

Chapter 7.  Trigonometry for Calculus.

Waves.  Section 7.4.

Graph c sin(ax + b) with changing a's, b's and c'c. Also with cosine. (This is mostly for Section 7.4) http://www.geogebra.org/en/upload/files/couture_daniel/TrigFunctions.html
